Programs/Activities – thru December 31st
College Counseling – staff meets with high school students in 9th grade individually & in groups to get them thinking about what they want to do after high school. Staff tracks their grads, discusses class choices and keeps them on track for SAT’s, deadlines, financial aid, extra-curricular activities, choosing at least four schools, etc. Program begins in October by appointment only to start. Facilitator – all staff
Study Jams – The building shuts down to the general public at 6:00 PM and open for studying or educational purposes only. Participants have a chance to finish assignments/projects, study, seek help, etc with their peers. Study Jams happen at least four times a year for mid terms and finals. Participants can study all over the building in groups or individually. Pizza is served around 7:15 PM. Facilitator – all staff
Computer Lab – Participants are able to use computer lab daily for homework and other school related projects at from 3:00 to 9:30 PM. The lab is open for general use (if available) after 6:00 PM. Facilitator – all staff
“Sistaz” – is a female development program specifically designed for young ladies grades 9 thru 12 to promote greater self worth and self image. This program runs throughout the school year. There is a curriculum for this program, but sometimes the ladies just need to talk. What happens in group stays in group. In the past 5 years, 95% of the ladies have all gone to various colleges and universities. This program is on Monday evenings at 6:30 PM beginning October 10, 2011. Facilitator – Crystal Uter (other facilitators come in for various subjects).
Lil Sis – is a female development program designed specifically for young ladies grades 6 thru 8 to promote greater self worth and self image. While this program is similar to Sistaz, this is a tougher age group and there is more group discussions centered around behavioral issues and homework. Lil Sis participants graduate into the Sistaz Program. This program meets on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM beginning October 11, 2011. Facilitator – Crystal Uter
Instrumental Music Lessons – this is a new program and its goal is to enhance the instrumental skills of our elementary age children who are currently taking instrumental music in school. This program begins in October by appointment only. Facilitator – Larry Scovens.
Cooking Class – This is a middle school program. Cooking classes begin Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 12:30 PM. Facilitator – Crystal Uter
Volleyball – high school/adults begins Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 7:00 PM. Facilitator – Larry Scovens
Recreational Games – Flyers Street Hockey, flag football, Puff Polo, Badminton, Volleyball, Board Games, Basketball, Ping Pong, billiards
Wildcats Traveling Team – This 12 and under team practices on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 PM and Saturdays 2:00 – 4:00PM. Tryouts begin Monday October 10, 2011 at 6:30 PM. Coach – Larry Scovens
1 on 1 w/Mr. Larry – Individualized basketball training begins Monday October 10, 2011 at 4:00 PM. Appointments must be scheduled with Mr. Larry. Trainings are Monday thru Wednesday from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
Open Gym – The gym is open for free play when programs are not running.
Special Events – Run throughout the year. Excursions, Guest Speakers, Family Nights, Game Nights, Exhibits, Tournaments, Unity Day, Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch,
